These UKRI Frontier Research Guarantee funded, full time posts are available for a fixed term of 4 years, to support the work of Professor Kate Newey.

One post is available immediately and the other post is available from 6th January 2025. The successful applicants will undertake research and dissemination.

Summary of the roles

These posts are funded by the Frontier Research Grant (guaranteed funding for ERC Advanced Grant).

You will require literary / historical research expertise and readiness to take on independent research & writing. You will undertake detailed and sophisticated work in physical and digital archives, and will ideally bring other interdisciplinary expertise (e.g. in visual culture or performance practice).

The research develops the careers of the PDRFs by providing each with an opportunity to write a monograph, collaborate on editing a book of essays, and an anthology of plays, develop research specialisms for future research, build and develop their own scholarly networks, and gain experience in collaborative organisation and project management.

About you

You will:

  • be able to undertake advanced archival research, present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically, prepare proposals and applications to external bodies, and ideally have interdisciplinary expertise (e.g. in visual culture or performance practice)
  • possess a relevant PhD or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study
  • be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes

The starting salary will be from £41,732 to £44,263 on Grade F, depending on qualifications and experience.
