The Role:

The school is looking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic individual as a teacher of Resistant Materials and Design Technology at KS4 who also has the ability to teach across the D&T subjects at KS3. This position has become available because of the retirement of an existing member of staff. We are looking for the best possible candidate irrespective of whether they are an ECT or a highly experienced teacher. This position is temporary for one year in the first instance. The reason for this is the requirement for some flexibility in a 0.64 contract over 4 days. There may be some periods of allocated cover within this contract.

The Design & Technology Department:

The Design Technology Department has consistently been one of the strongest performing departments within the school and this is a great opportunity to join a well-resourced, high performing and supportive team.

Within the Design Technology department, a carousel of the disciplines is taught that includes Graphic Design, Textiles and Resistant Materials. Food and Nutrition is also taught within the KS3 carousel but is delivered by Food specialists. Pupils opt for Design and Technology or Food Preparation and Nutrition at KS4.

The Technology department is experienced and hardworking and supported well by our Technology Technician. The facilities are excellent having been designed and purpose built as part of our previous Technology Specialist status. All students in the school have laptop devices meaning that they can access resources, digital creativity, work collaboratively and share materials very easily through the Office environment and Synergy, our learning platform.

There are excellent working relationships between staff and students who are well motivated and keen to succeed.
