Leading software business looking for a Senior Privacy Counsel to join their data protection function (which sits within the wider legal team). This role is based in Central London and requires 2-3 days per week in the office. This is a 12 month contract covering a period of maternity leave

The Senior Privacy Counsel will be joining a small and be required to provide practical & commercially-focused advice as the business looks to meet its data protection obligations. The postholder will engage with stakeholders from function across the board including product development, engineering and sales, as well as constant interaction with the wider legal team to minimise privacy risk incidents. Additionally, you'll have the chance to develop and implement strategy to ensure compliance across the business.

You will be a UK qualified solicitor (or an overseas lawyer who has already gained at least 12 months UK experience in GDPR work). The client believes that this remit requires a candidate with at least 5 years’ PQE but applications from all levels will be considered on merit. Please note that privacy work must be your dominant specialism – applicants cannot be general commercial lawyers who have touched on data protection work.
