Join John Lewis or Waitrose today
If you've ever stepped through the doors of a John Lewis or Waitrose shop, shopped online, or seen any of our adverts, you'll know there's something unique about us.
That unique proposition is our Partners. As co-owners they have a say in our business and receive a share of the profits, so they put time and effort into making it work. Our Partners are the reason we're the success we are. They're our secret sauce; the opportunity for us to differentiate.
Job Summary:This is a really important front line role. You represent us with every single customer you meet and their impression of Waitrose & Partners is down to you. So, as well as having a flexible approach and the ability to use your initiative to deal with unexpected situations, you should be passionate about providing the very highest levels of customer service.
Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
As Partners - members of the Partnership - it's our responsibility to ensure our success for the future. We proactively seek out opportunities to continuously improve the way we work, taking action to ensure the Partnership is efficient and we are all as productive as possible. It's an ethos each and every Partner works by and you'll carry into your own role too.
Due to the delivery/handling/selling of age restricted items, applicants must be 18 years or over to apply.
You’ll be the friendly face of our business – the helpful driver who delivers the unique blend of Waitrose quality and outstanding service right to our customers’ doors. When you’re not out and about you’ll be at the store, assisting with things like stock control and cashiering, which may involve lifting heavy products.
A good appreciation of health & safety is a must too, along with excellent driving skills – and we will ask you to take a driving assessment as part of your application.
Required essential experience skills and qualifications:
You will need a full valid UK manual driving licence with no more than six points – and you should be 18 years old or over. Part of the application process will include a licence check and a security check to confirm your suitability for the role.
Required desirable experience skills and qualifications:
Previous experience in a driving role and a knowledge of chilled vehicles would both be welcomed.
Additional Information:
As a Partner you will enjoy our unique benefits package, including staff discount, subsidised food in Partner dining rooms, discounts in local restaurants, subsidised learning, access to exclusive Partnership hotels and so much more.
Please consider the following when making your application:
- We occasionally close vacancies early in the event we receive a high volume of applications. Therefore, we recommend you apply early.
- Print off the job description now if you require it.
- Please be aware that due to the nature and activities of this role, all successful candidates will have a driving license check and DBS check carried out on them through a 3rd party registered body. For more details on DBS checks and what these entail, please visit the Government website.
Pay:£12.47 Hourly
Scheduled Weekly hours:37.5
Worker Type:Permanent Partner
Job Level:Partnership Level 10
Hours of Work:Varied hours of full and/or part time work (delete as appropriate) across seven days to include early starts, late finishes, evenings and weekends.
At the John Lewis Partnership, we embrace our differences. We want you to be you. Because, well, we know you're at your best when you're free to be yourself.
Being a truly inclusive employer to us means creating an environment which celebrates your contribution, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, social background, religion or belief. It's why we've set our own aim to become the UK’s most inclusive business - for our Partners (employees) and our customers.
We firmly believe that our future success lies in diversity of thought from all Partners and it's integral in our mission to build a happier world.
We welcome applications from everyone interested in working for us. And, once you're a Partner, your differences will make all the difference.
Find out more about D&I in the Partnership here.
We want all of our Partners to have a good work-life balance and we support flexible working. This might mean flexible or compressed hours, job sharing or shorter hour contracts, where it is possible to do so. Please discuss this further with the hiring manager during your interview.
