Building Surveyor

The Building Design Consultancy is an energetic and forward-thinking group of professionals tasked with the design, project management & delivery of a wide variety of construction projects.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Building Surveyor to work under the direction of the Building Consultancy Manager and Building Surveying & Design Manager on the design and management of a wide variety of construction related projects together with provision of technical inspections and advice to key stakeholders.

He/she will be required to maintain effective liaison with other professionals and key stakeholders and assist with the development and management of projects as required.

Applicants should be qualified to Degree level in a relevant subject or be able to evidence the equivalent level of knowledge gained through work experience.

It is essential that applicants are computer literate and have proven knowledge & capability of AutoCAD and NBS software packages and have a sound knowledge and working experience of dealing with health and safety issues (including CDM and asbestos regulations).

Applicants should be able to work independently, under pressure and to deadlines.

A valid driving licence and the use of a car would be essential as the position involves travel around the Borough, for which an allowance is payable.   

This post will have access to the Public Services Network, if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at the Basic level (unspent criminal convictions).

Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded three additional days leave (pro rata for part-time).
