We are looking for a Vice President or Executive Director with prior experience working at an asset manager in a compliance, operational risk, or audit role. The primary responsibility would be to join the Internal Control team in its role to implement appropriate infrastructure around the governance of mandates managed within UCITS, AIFMD, MIFID and other regulatory frameworks as well as ensuring compliance with firmwide and frameworks and standards. The role is London based.
Job Responsibilities
You will have a good knowledge of funds and relevant regulation, be a self-starter and self-motivated individual as the business is based on devising bespoke mandates. You would join an already existing team and work on building and enhancing the current governance framework to adapt to continuous evolution. This role requires you to demonstrate a range of skills from effective process oversight and controls, senior management and regulatory reporting and effective communication to analytical problem solving and teamwork. As an Internal Controller you will be responsible for:
- Monitoring investment restrictions and guidelines; report breaches and maintain records.
- Oversight of daily tasks and processes and investigating escalation alerts from portfolio managers, middle office, compliance.
- Designing and performing risk based ongoing monitoring, agreeing mitigating controls and escalating risks.
- Assessing new products initiatives, and changes, and their impact on Mansart internal controls and supervisory requirements.
- Working with the teams to design, assess and review appropriate governance, processes, policies, and procedures, and keeping them up to date.
- Liaise with product development team and make recommendations on suitability challenges.
- Ensuring compliance with ongoing regulatory reporting and work with wider team to advise on and implement regulatory change.
- Prepare management information for committees, board of directors and management meetings.
- Conduct due diligence and maintain oversight on external service providers and outsourced functions.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- You have a detailed understanding of risk management requirements under UCITS and AIFMD.
- Relevant experience of performing an audit, compliance, risk, or control role for an asset management company would be a significant advantage.
- You will be expected to be able to manage relationships with the businesses at all levels, including senior management and board of directors.
- Able to work independently and having sufficient experience to know when to escalate an issue is essential.
- Being proactive, able to think critically about the information presented to them, comfortable with subjective situations, and ready to ask appropriate questions and effectively challenge where needed.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Knowledge of funds and/or management company activities including UCITS, AIFMD, MIFID, EMIR regulations, is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent).
