Main Purpose

The teacher will:

Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

Teach, according to their educational need, students assigned to you in the allocated classesPlan and prepare courses and lessonsSet and mark work carried out by the student in school and elsewhereAssess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of studentsPromote the general progress and well-being of individual students and of any class or group of students assigned to youCommunicate and consult with parents/carers of studentsCommunicate and co-operate with external agenciesProvide or contribute to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students and groups of studentsParticipate in arrangements made for the appraisal or review of your performanceReview from time to time your methods of teaching and programmes of workParticipate in arrangements for your further training and professional development as a teacher and undertake training and professional development which aims to meet needs identified in planning and review statementsMaintain discipline and good order among students in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the schoolControl and oversee the use of books and other resources provided for class usageMaintain up-to-date subject knowledgeParticipate and contribute to meetings at the school which relate to the curriculum for the school or the administration or organisation of the school, including pastoral arrangementsRegister the attendance of studentsTake part in the review, development and management of activities related to the curriculum, organisation and pastoral functions of the schoolDeploy and supervise Teaching Assistants provided to support students in your allocated classesPromote high standards of literacy, regardless of specialist subjectCover for absent colleagues within the remit of the current STPCD


Safeguarding
