The position of Family Support Worker (now known as Targeted Early Help Support Practitioner) is to work holistically with the whole family, assessing strengths and needs and coordinating support for each family member. Managing risk and an excellent knowledge of safeguarding and thresholds of intervention are essential for the position. You will hold a caseload of up to 15 families, and receive bi-monthly supervision, working as part of a team aligned to the family hubs.
You will support families across Barnsley and so you will need to be able to travel across the borough.
Responsibilities
Provide support, advice and information to children, young people and their families, including the provision of practical assistance.
To assist social work qualified practitioners in the undertaking of their duties relating to all forms of social care interventions as appropriate.
Assist in the promotion of good parenting and provide parents and carers with support and information in relation to parenting and the development of children and young people through a variety of means including group work and one to one sessions as required.

Education and Training
