Social workers within the Permanency service have the opportunity to do meaningful direct work, such as life story work, which can have lifelong impacts. We're seeking enthusiastic, committed social workers who can motivate networks around young people to achieve excellent standards of care and support.The main office is based in Kingston, and you'll be supporting children and young people aged 0 to 18.

Responsibilities:

Assessment: Social workers get to know their clients on a multidimensional level to determine the most effective way to work towards positive change.
This involves understanding their needs, strengths, and challenges.
Treatment Planning: Social workers create and implement treatment plans tailored to each client's situation.
These plans outline the steps needed to address specific issues or goals.
Resource Referral: They secure and refer clients to needed resources, such as counselling services, housing assistance, or educational programs
Monitoring and Evaluation: Social workers evaluate and monitor clients' progress, adjusting interventions as necessary to ensure improvement
Advocacy: They serve as advocates for their clients, ensuring their rights are protected, and their voices are heard.
This includes championing the views and wishes of children and young people.
Collaboration: Social workers work alongside other professionals (such as educators, healthcare providers, and counsellors) to meet the diverse needs of children and young people. This collaborative approach ensures appropriate care, education, and health services are provided.
Safety and Independence: Social workers support children living with relatives, foster families, or prospective adopters, as well as those in children's homes or semi-independent units.

Their goal is to ensure safety and guide young people toward independence.Key tasks include regular visits, assessments, care planning, and active participation in professional networks.
Overall, social workers empower individuals to improve their lives while safeguarding their well-being.
About You:

  • Education: A degree-level education with the relevant social work qualification.
  • Statutory Knowledge: An understanding of statutory legislation, such as the Children Act
  • Assessment and Planning Skills: The ability to assess and review children and young people's needs, as well as plan care packages across various cases.
  • Case Management Experience: Experience in managing an allocated case load.
  • Passion: A commitment to Achieving for Children's vision, mission, and values, supporting children and young people to live safe, happy, healthy, and successful lives.
