We are looking for a Media Studies Tutor (Teacher) to join our friendly, thriving and successful team at MPW London. The role reports to the Head of Biology and starts at the beginning of the Autumn 2024 term.

About The Role

You will:

Promote and safeguard the welfare of all students at MPW LondonPreparing lessons in accordance with the departmental Scheme of Work, college policies and examination specifications.Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of your subject and the relevant means of assessmentAssist the Head of Department in updating department policies and curriculum planningTeach students in accordance with their developmental needs, using a variety of stimulating, quality methods of learning.Assist in the creation of a range of teaching resources for use within the department, as well as promoting literacy, numeracy and ICT skills through curriculum delivery.Provide homework and exam-based assignments, as well as ensure that students receive the support they need for courseworkSupport students with deadlines for submissions, ensuring their work is correctly assessed and moderated.Support the Principal with student interviews, providing advice about your course and student suitabilityReinforce by general conduct and teaching the aims and values of the college as a whole and engage with the extra-curricular aspects of college life.


About You

You have:

A degree in Media or relevant subjectExperience of supporting and teaching young people aged 14+, preferably within an educational contextPassion for sharing your knowledge with others, and the ability to devise and implement a range of teaching strategies to promote learning and enjoyment of the subjectAn approachable, friendly, and professional communication style, both orally and in writingConfidence in using Microsoft Office, as well as online systems/databasesAwareness of the likely developments affecting the delivery of the subject at Key Stage 4 and post-16 levelsPatience and perseverance, and a commitment to the overcoming of barriers to learningAn inspiring, confident and positive attitude to maintaining student disciplineA team-focused attitude, and a willingness to support others
