Salary : £23,893 per annum plus enhancements

Bridgend County Borough Council’s Customer and Community Support Unit (CCSU), is looking for a highly motivated individual to work within the Bridgend County Borough Councils Open Space CCTV Control Room. The role will incorporate the operation of the open space CCTV systems, working closely with South Wales Police, as well as offering residents an excellent customer service by responding to emergency Council issues from customers via the telephone and other channels predominantly during silent hours, weekends and bank holidays.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:

To operate all equipment and cameras, complying with the CCTV Code of Practice,Data Protection Act, Human Rights Act and all operational control room procedures and to communicate with other departments, external agencies or the public in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

To monitor and patrol via view-screens effectively and to take any remedial orimmediate action and notification as appropriate to events seen, liaising with South Wales Police in respect of observed incidents through picture monitoring and the production of evidential DVDs as required.

To accurately record all events and activities relating to CCTV and emergency services onto the V.TAS database and, as required, view footage with third parties, producing DVD’s when required, complete witness statements to an acceptablestandard and on occasions give evidence in court.

To receive all calls for Out-of-Hours Emergencies and to accurately relay information to appropriate officers of the Council, and external agencies.

To ensure all equipment is functioning correctly, carryout equipment checks as required, and to inform immediately all required personnel of faults found.

To maintain personal integrity and confidentiality of all information obtained within the control room, always, whether written, verbal or by any other means.

To be familiar with emergency services planning manuals and liaise with appropriate officers of the authority to provide the necessary service in accordance with the specified operating procedures.
