Purpose
As H&S Advisor (Safety Campaign Management), you will hold a key role within the Health and Safety team, being responsible for leading, developing and delivering the SP Energy Networks Public Safety strategy which improves and raises the profile of public safety.
Using a data-driven approach to develop and deliver strategic public safety communications and stakeholder engagement programmes both internally and externally, you will use different communication channels to ensure the delivery of clear, consistent and effective safety information and key messages to a range of audiences, helping to improve public safety culture and drive down accidents on our network.
Responsibilities
Leading and influencing the business in requirements of public safety legislation, monitor reporting to the regulatory authority (ESQCR Compliance) and representing the business position externally, you will provide professional leadership, direction, strategy and advice on public safety to senior management and operational teams, focusing on geographical priorities derived from business reports and engagement with key external influencers.
Delivering an annual programme of public safety communication and engagement campaigns based on SP Energy Networks Public Safety priorities, you will ensure relevance and consistency of messages via internal and external channels, including but not limited to social media, PR and stakeholder engagement.
Actively managing, developing and maintaining a range of communication messages tailored to the various target audiences for use across all channels (website, webinars, events, printed materials, videos) that support the delivery of our public safety strategic objectives, you will work closely with the wider SP Energy Networks stakeholder and communications team and local stakeholder teams to ensure public safety messaging aligns with strategic communications objectives at a business wide level.
Providing knowledge sharing across the industry and to a wide variety of audiences will be a key part of this role, presenting public safety messages to a range of audiences and age-groups from primary school classes to specialist trade groups and farming associations, directing the appropriate utilisation of public safety budgets.
Additionally, you will be responsible for the development of opportunities for best-practice exchanges which will include the facilitation of workshops and meetings with employees, contractors, emergency services, customers and members of the public. The aim is also to inform, train and educate; to lead public safety engagement with internal and external stakeholders (e.g ENA) and with third party safety providers such as Safety Centre s in England and Scotland with the aim of improving safety.
What you'll bring
Educated to degree level or possessing significant compensatory experience, you will possess NEBOSH General Certification or equivalent. With proven experience of designing and delivering successful external multimedia communication campaigns, you will hold leadership qualities with strong communication and inter-personal skills in order to motivate and influence managers and staff at all levels.
With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you will be comfortable communicating complex subjects at all audience levels, utilising your Public Safety experiences from within the utility, engineering or construction sector.
Delivering and performing H&S audits and inspections against regulatory requirements (desirable), you will also be experienced in providing support to incident investigations e.g. liasing with members of the public to raise awareness of safety requirements when near our assets.
As H&S Advisor (Safety Campaign Management), you will also be required to travel UK wide.
