Main Purpose of the Position:

 

Under the direction of the Shift Manager, manage your team to ensure that Quality, Output, Spoilage Controls, Health & Safety and Housekeeping is met.  Ensuring all tasks are performed to meet daily Plant Objectives and KPI’s.  Responsibility for whole of front-end cell.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Sustainability:

  1. Ensures and maintains safe working conditions while enforcing safety rules and regulations, including statutory checks to equipment.
  2. Is a trained Behaviour Based Safety Observer.
  3. Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in Plant and Corporate           directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
  4. Make sure potential risks are contained and reported as soon as possible. Participates in investigation of accidents.
  5. Facilitates environmental protection, energy optimisation and waste management. This includes promoting correct segregation of waste, regular inspections and investigating environmental incidents as required.
  6. Performs duties without posing a direct threat to anyone or to property.

 

Quality:

  1. Performs duties as required to ensure compliance with the plant's quality standards.
  2. Facilitate implementation and adherence to Hygiene and HACCP systems.

 

Performance (Output, Efficiency, Spoilage):

  1. Ensures necessary actions are taken to meet Quality, Cost, Delivery: set targets, track daily achievements, make appropriate adjustments in resources and organisation, analyse results, identify and implement actions to attain desired result.
  2. Ensures all standard procedures are followed within the area of responsibility (safety, quality, 5S, attendance) react to deviation.
  3. Work with the team as needed to perform maintenance, repairs, machine adjustments, project work, troubleshooting.
  4. Conducts inspection of process materials, equipment and finished product.
  5. Responsible for replenishing supplies, materials, parts, and tooling required for assigned area via the Apriso System.
  6. Reviews SOPs and control plans relevant to their area on a regular basis.

 

 

7.         Performs record keeping duties as required under the direction of management.

8.         Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from all available computer systems.

9.         Face to face handovers to oncoming Cell Leader to ensure the handover of a clean, safe work environment.

10.       At the beginning of the shift, make sure all necessary resources are available (man, machine and

material) to meet objectives.

11.       Tracks and reports KPIs as per Shift Managers instructions. Follow action plan to reach target or improve performance.

12.       Promotes and drives continuous improvement in his area of responsibility (safety, environmental, 5S, improvement ideas, SMED, problem solving).

13.       Communicates all important information to Shift Manager and FE Engineering Team Leader.

14.       Supports Shift Manager as and when required.

15.       Coil HFI samples, completion of relevant paperwork.

16.       Plan coil changes or label changes including the personnel required.

 

People:

  1. Supervise a team of shift technicians and Operators to ensure they are meeting the correct performance standard.  Ensure you behave as a Role Model at all times.
  2. Participate in annual appraisals in conjunction with the Shift Manager.
  3. Drive training plans and completion of shift matrices in conjunction with the Shift Manager.
  4. Identify skill gaps - In conjunction with the Shift Manager.
  5. Manage resource – In conjunction with the Shift Manager.

Professional Requirements:

Qualifications:                                   HNC / HND / Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent in Mechanical                                                           Engineering

 

Languages:                                       English

 

Computer Skills:                                Microsoft office / SAP

 

Previous Job / Project Experience:  

 

  • Managing a team effectively in a fast speed, high volume manufacturing environment
  • Working towards and achieving Key Performance Indicators
  • Working towards and achieving Objectives, both team and personal
  • A flexible approach to work content in-line with day to day requirements                                               
  • Evidence of self-motivation, an ability to use your own initiative and to work with a level of responsibility
