An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Medical Secretary/Administrator position within Cellular Pathology to provide secretarial and administrative support to the Histology department.

You will have experience with excellent range of Secretarial/Administrator organisational skills including accurate audio typing skills and knowledge of medical terminology and experience with Microsoft Packages.

You must have a flexible approach to the needs of the service and demonstrate excellent typing, communication, organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills, a good telephone manner. You should have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner.

 

Main duties of the job

 

The main duties include providing secretarial and administrative support within a busy diagnostic service. You should be able to demonstrate good communication and organisational skills, along with a flexible approach to duties, be able to work in a busy and pressured environment. Preferably relevant secretarial / audio typing qualifications and previous secretarial or PA experience are required. Knowledge and experience within the Health sector would be beneficial but not essential.

This post would suit an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Maidstone Hospital, situated in the heart of the Kent countryside, covers a large population and includes the regional Oncology Centre which supports of the Kent cancer network. The Histology department provides diagnostic services for Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trusts, Medway NHS Foundation Trust and Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust.

Consequently, there is a combined Histology workload of around 70,000 cases per year. The department carries out a wide range of investigations including various specialist resections from hospitals within the Kent & Medway Pathology network.

"We will consider applicants without clerical qualifications if they have relevant clerical experience. Applicants without significant clerical experience may still be considered but would be appointed at band 3 whilst relevant clerical qualification is being gained.
