These include end uses such as matting agents in surface coatings, clarifying agents for edible oils and beverages, additives to paints and coatings for thermal insulation, and sensory particles in personal care products to improve feel attributes.

This role would suit a Chemical/Process Engineer looking to gain experience in process engineering and career progression opportunities. As a junior process engineer, guidance and training will be given by a team of experienced colleagues who will help to develop technical and non-technical skills to achieve personal, department and site objectives.

Job Purpose:

To develop & maintain process knowledge & expertise for manufacturing assets at the Warrington siteTo lead, manage and participate in process engineering studies, process designs and engineering projects to support the development of the site & businessTo provide troubleshooting and support to production processes at the Warrington siteTo lead & execute plant trials in order to support new product and process development

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Ensure that process safety is properly addressed & included in all process designsEnsure Health, Safety and the Environment are properly considered in all process interactionsDemonstrate appropriate training and competence in order to assist in the preparation of Hazop reviewsMonitor process performance, so that issues are quickly identified and corrected to maintain process stability, using tools such as Aspen Process Explorer to aid troubleshootingSupport management of change to ensure effective control and approval of process changesDesign and develop new processes/products and improve existing processes/products to meet the project objectives and to ensure the necessary HSE and engineering standards are met, including:Equipment design and process specificationEquipment selectionProcess economicsCommission, train operators and hand over to OperationsProcess optimisationIssue technical reports / process & equipment specifications so that information is readily available for internal useIdentify and evaluate process improvement opportunitiesProvide technical / process troubleshooting to eliminate manufacturing problemsWork closely with people from different functions such as; Project Engineering, Quality, R&D, Operations and engage with external contacts such as equipment suppliers, toll manufacturers and professional servicesChampion the use of the PQ methodologies for structural improvement (7 steps) and executing projects

Knowledge Skills and Experience Required:

A university bachelor or master degree in (chemical / process) engineering and minimum of 2 years' experience in the areas of process technology, engineering and project management within a large chemical manufacturing organisationBe able to demonstrate practical experience in an industrial environment at the level expected for this role. Ideally this would include experience in process design, process optimisation, commissioning of new systems and production supportGood leadership, interpersonal, organisational and change management skills with the ability to converse with all levels of the organisationThe ability to work individually and as part of a team, interacting with different functions, relating to a wide range of personnelExcellent problem-solving skillsGood command of at least English and preferably another language or languages
