Lecturer in Accountancy and Finance

The Department of Business and Law at Solent University, Southampton, is seeking a Lecturer for Accountancy and Finance to teach across a range of topics, with a specialism in auditing. In addition, flexibility to teach across financial accounting and tax would be beneficial at UG, PG and Executive Education Levels. Professional experience would be welcome.

The role would be responsible for ensuring the effective development and delivery of the teaching ensuring that the delivery of modules enhance the student experience, student progression and attainment alongside boosting students' employability and positive outcomes.

Solent University Southampton is a triple TEF Gold institution.

We are looking for a candidate that has a wide range of Higher Education experience that thrives on innovating curriculum, designing, and supporting engaging learning environments that is full of both theory and real-world application.  In addition, the role will involve developing and overseeing course content, module leading, research-informed teaching, supervision, designing assessments, pastoral support, and engaging to deliver objectives and uphold the Solent Values.

We particularly welcome applicants who hold a PhD (or close to completion) who also have relevant HE teaching and industry experience. We are also ideally seeking candidates who hold at least a Fellow of Advance HE or are in the process of undertaking a submission.

Our innovative learning design framework has inclusivity at the heart, alongside providing strong graduate attributes mapped to the UN Sustainability goals, which is delivered across directed, collaborative and guide learning modes.  Therefore, strong knowledge of learning pedagogies is vital, including knowledge of online and blended learning and in developing interactive materials on the virtual learning environments to support the student learning experience.

The Department of Business and Law has held the Chartered Association of Business School's Small Business Charter award since 2014 and has recently been shortlisted in the Small Business Charter Excellence Awards for Outstanding support for student Enterprise and entrepreneurship and won the prestigious Chartered Management Institutes HE Training Provider of the Year 2022 award. Over two thirds of our staff hold Advance HE status and by 2024 with just under half working towards SFHEA and/or PFHEA.

The Business School has a strong network of industry experts and alumni who input into the curriculum along with live briefs to inform research led and knowledge exchange programmes. The Department also holds Department wide events and insight series to extend both staff and student networks.

Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

Start date Summer 2024

Interview date: 26 June 2024

During the interview the shortlisted candidates will be asked to deliver a micro 10-minute teaching session on a topic related to current issues in auditing.
