Dyfi to Dwyryd Treescape Wales, United Kingdom Woodland Trust Full time

ABOUT US

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. We want to see a world where trees and woods thrive for people and nature. The Trust engages and inspires people to make their difference tackling the nature and climate crisis helping protect, restore and create our vital woods and trees.

THE ROLE

The Woodland Outreach Adviser will focus on inspiring an increase in the restoration and sustainable management of ancient woodland and temperate rainforest across Wales. This will be through raising the profile of ancient woodland, managing existing partner relationships, and forging new ones to develop and deliver a programme of events and activities. Working at scale, the role will build capacity through working with others including partners and forestry contractors. The role will also be responsible for working through consultants to deliver advice and support to landowners. The role will build on our strong history of supporting landowners, inspiring and enabling them to make a long-lasting impact.

The role will mainly focus on our Dyfi to Dwyryd Treescape in North West / Mid Wales, a stronghold for Welsh speakers, and will be responsible for communicating the Woodland Trust’s aims of bringing ancient woods into management. You will bring enthusiasm, and ease of communication within the land management sector, and an exploratory mind to find solutions to some of the challenges facing land professionals and local communities.

A company car will be provided for this role.

THE CANDIDATE

The successful candidate will have experience working in the land management sector, in forestry or woodland conservation, and a working knowledge of land management funding streams including both grants and markets for wood products. You will have experience of building partnerships and meaningful working relationships with a range of key stakeholders, including landowners and land agents, statutory and public bodies, effectively engaging with them so they are involved and inspired by our work. You’ll be able to deliver through others including partners, contractors, and professional consultants, ensuring the impact of projects are maximised. You’ll have a collaborative approach with experience of working with multiple teams and organisations for a shared purpose.

You will have experience in building partnerships, generating project ideas, and successfully developing and delivering projects on time and to budget. You will use your excellent communication skills to represent the Woodland Trust in a professional, competent, and positive manner to engage and inspire a range of different audiences.

The role will focus mainly on our Dyfi to Dwyryd Treescape in North West / Mid Wales and we would require the successful candidate to be based in this area with regular travel involved. We require the successful candidate to either speak or have the desire to learn the Welsh language which the Woodland Trust can support.

Our Organisational Nature enables us to better understand what it means to be part of the Woodland Trust, empowering us to make an impact, every day. We want you to be able to role model our values; ‘Grow Together’, ‘Focus’, ‘Make it Count’ and ‘Explore’ to ensure each of us plays our part in helping to protect, restore and create our woods and trees.

Benefits & Wellbeing: Joining our team means you'll be a big part of tackling environmental and climate issues. We take good care of our staff, offering support and training opportunities. We also offer:

  • Enhanced Employer Pension
  • Life Assurance
  • Flexible & Hybrid Working Options
  • Generous Annual Leave
  • Enhanced Parental Pay
  • Employee Assistance Programme

Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion: The Woodland Trust embraces diversity and inclusion. We want our team to reflect the UK's diverse community. We support people from all backgrounds to apply, especially those who are under-represented.

Application Advice: Even if you don't meet every requirement of the role, we would encourage you to apply. Your enthusiasm for the environment and our core values—Grow Together, Explore, Focus and Make it Count—are what matter most. We also keep our candidates’ personal details hidden from the hiring managers, so they do not see your CV until shortlisting is completed. Make sure that your Personal Statement clearly shows your experience and passion for the role.

Apply Now: If you're ready to make a difference and grow with us, send in your application today. We might close the job opening early if we get a lot of applications, so it's a good idea to apply soon. We look forward to hearing from you and working together to make a positive impact on our planet.

1st Interviews will be held via Teams on Tuesday 17th September 2024.
2nd stage Interviews will be held in-person on Monday 30th September 2024.
