Casualty is a multi-award-winning drama series about the staff and patients at the Holby City Emergency Department, charting the ups and downs in their personal and professional lives whilst tackling many controversial and taboo issues. Through great writing and visual flair the show balances gritty realism with high drama to keep its millions of dedicated viewers coming back for more, on-screen and on-line, week in week out.

Main Responsibilities

You'll report to the Senior Production Manager, Karen Howard

Working to the Production Managers the Unit Driver will be responsible for providing logistical support to the production team, including being the principal driver for the filming units.

Your duties will include

• Transport artists and crew to and from location and studios

• Collect and deliver daily rushes, props, costumes and other equipment as required

• Carry out daily safety checks / inspection, maintenance and cleaning of the fleet vehicles

• Liaise with production, schedules and call sheet to anticipate any requirements for additional drivers and arrange all bookings

• Liaise with our additional drivers to ensure that they have access to the building/vehicle, know their call times and requirements for the day and are aware of anything in addition that is required of them, and when required, collate all the legal documents required for new hired drivers

• Assist the production department and act as additional runner / production assistant as and when required

• Undertake longer journeys with our artists to and from special events when required

• Pick up and drop off additional hire vehicles when required

Are you the right candidate?

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following;

• Have a clean and valid driving licence (and for insurance purposes be over the age of 23 as there will be a requirement to drive using BBC issued vehicles)

• Possession of Driver CPC Certificate essential

• Experience of driving a wide variety of different vehicle types

• Considerable experience and proven ability within the role, preferably within Drama production

• Knowledge and passion for Casualty

• Evidence of interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to establish credibility with colleagues and to foster effective working relationships with a wide range of production and non-production personnel, internal and external to the BBC
