Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, adjust, and operate the ESAB equipment, ensuring optimal performance and output quality.
  • Complete, record, and report pre-use operational, conditional, and calibration checks at the required periodicity.
  • Perform cutting tasks on various metal types and thicknesses, following drawings, technical information, and specifications.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Complete routine maintenance tasks on the ESAB equipment to ensure optimal functionality and availability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including time, materials used, and job specifications.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety incidents, or quality issues to the line manager.


Person Specification:

  • High standards of ethics and compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
  • Attention to detail and precision in work.
  • Can-do attitude with good problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
  • Effective communicator with good teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Computer literate.
  • Fit and mobile, able to safely move around the work site, including the Ferguson Marine Yard and its workshops.
  • Willingness to work outside regular core hours when required.


Required Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Plater or Burner Trade qualification
  • Experience in hand burning using gas cutting equipment.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, technical information, and specifications.
  • Experience in material handling, including the use of handling equipment for plate, profiles, and parts.
  • Proficient in the use of trade hand tools.

Rates:

17.07/h PAYE plus 2.14/h - First 37 hours Mon - Thurs

23.90/h PAYE plus 3.00/h - After 37 hours
