Company Overview:
My client is a 3D generative AI platform that partners with brands and developers to build virtual worlds and experiences. With decades of experience across technical and creative design, we are a best-in-class team of artists, builders, machine learning and computer vision experts who envision a future where AI builds the next generation of gaming, XR experiences and visual
stories.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an individual who can help us convert our technology head start and early partnerships with AAA game devs into a sustainable competitive advantage through product and execution moats.
We are early in our GTM process and the distinction between product and technology is not yet effectively established. We are looking for an individual who can help us build structure and build out a plug-and-play platform for game developers that highlights the advantages of our tech in a way that offers a strong value proposition to game-industry studios.
Being an AI expert is not a requirement as we have a strong technology team, but it would be seen as a huge advantage.
Being a former founder or an individual who has successfully taken a tech innovation through a GTM process would also be seen as directly applicable and relevant expertise.
Having networks and knowledge of the gaming industry would be seen as directly applicable and relevant expertise.
Key Qualities:
1. Technical Leadership:
a. This is one of 2 executive-level positions in the company and as such there is
need for visionary leadership:
i. Externally when dealing with investors and customers,
ii. Internally motivating and aligning the 8 person technical team to consistently ship updates and execute on projects.
iii. Structurally in creating technical roadmaps, product feature maps and
setting OKRs
b. Oversee the development and execution of the technical roadmap, ensuring
alignment with the company's overall strategic goals.
2. Game Development Expertise:
a. Leverage your extensive experience in shaping key features and avenues for
future tech dev in game development, particularly at AAA quality levels.
b. Leverage networks you may have for key partnerships and clients / use cases
c. Strong knowledge of workflows, pipelines and sales cycles within the industry to ensure effective productization of our tech.
3. Machine Learning and 3D Generative AI Expertise:
a. We do not require that you be a 3D AI expert to fill this position, nor will you need to write code - although expertise here will be a huge advantage.
b. That said, we would expect sufficient knowledge of AI systems generally (training vs inferencing, fine tuning, segmentation, etc) in order to interact with the technical team (including ML Engineers) in a meaningful way.
4. Workflow Optimization Experience:
a. We are a small team (10 people) and expect to grow in the next 24 months,
however the current structure was built when the company started with only 4
people and as such internal workflows and structure could be significantly
optimized (a process we are currently working on).
b. Having experience, especially in a startup environment, growing a small team through the PMF & GTM phase would be a huge advantage.
5. Product Building:
a. As a company we have built a strong suite of diverse 2D and 3D technologies, in
POCs and early client projects we have deployed these technologies at scale to
achieve significant cost savings for clients. Further, our value proposition seems
to be highly demanded by both large game developers and especially
small/medium sized devs.
b. We are looking for an individual to help us convert this tech stack into a
standardised, scalable product offering and/or platform.
c. The intrinsic connection between tech innovation and product features means that this position sits at the intersection of CTO and CPO. Though ultimately the importance at this stage for the company is on developing a great product rather than continued focus on tech innovation.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in a senior technical role within AAA game development.
• Ideally a deep understanding of machine learning, with a focus on 3D generative networks.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide technical teams.
• Prior experience in a startup environment, ideally having been part of the founding team of a startup before during the PMF and/or GTM phases.
• Track record of successfully integrating innovative technologies into consumer-facing products.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A visionary mindset with a passion for pushing the boundaries of technology in the gaming industry.
Additional details:
• Equity package: 1 - 3% on standard vesting ($30mil last round valuation)
• Remote possible - some hybrid scenario with presence in Vienna highly preferred
• Visa sponsorship included if needed
