We are hiring for a Maintenance Assistant to undertake maintenance support work at a structural steelwork manufacturing facility in Derby. This role is based within a dynamic and fast-paced production environment where you will be an essential part of the team, helping to ensure the smooth operation of the factory s machinery and equipment.
Duties of a Maintenance Assistant
You will be working as part of the Maintenance team and will be responsible for:
- Assisting with routine maintenance tasks and service-related duties to support production.
- Supporting the implementation of preventative maintenance programmes, ensuring equipment is operating efficiently.
- Assisting in reactive day-to-day maintenance, including dealing with electrical motors, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Providing support during emergency breakdowns, including out-of-hours assistance when necessary.
- Helping monitor and adjust equipment and processes to ensure high-quality production outcomes.
- Assisting in the procurement of parts and spares, adhering to cost-effectiveness and budget guidelines.
Skills and Experience of a Maintenance Assistant
As a Maintenance Assistant, you need to have experience with:
- Basic mechanical and electrical systems.
- Using hand tools and testing equipment safely.
- Understanding and adhering to Health & Safety guidelines.
It would be beneficial to the Maintenance Assistant role if you also had:
- Good communication skills, particularly in written and verbal English.
- Basic knowledge of CNC machinery, including fault finding and basic maintenance.
- Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word/Excel/Outlook).
- Access to reliable transport. The client s site is accessible via car, public transport, walking, or cycling.
