Attendance is an essential aspect of a successful community and academic success. The role of the Attendance Manager is to assist in the promotion of outstanding attendance by working in partnership with all stakeholders and the wider community. If attendance is outstanding then students have improved life chances and will make more rapid progress academically and socially.

The Attendance Manager will work directly with all stakeholders in a non-judgemental way, encouraging, challenging and supporting improvements in attendance at an individual, cohort and whole school level. In addition to this the Attendance Manager will work preventatively with families, children and the school to provide early intervention, safeguarding and signposting, support and guidance.Main Duties / Responsibilities


Punctuality

• Daily meet and greet at front of school for all students, noting any ‘lates’.

• Contact home and speak where possible to all parents and carers to discuss reasons why student has arrived late to school, to foster positive working relationships.

• Support children and appropriately sanction poor punctuality through the weekly ‘Remedy’ detention for lateness.

• In the case of persistent lateness invite parent/carers to attend school to discuss and formulate a plan to improve punctuality.

Attendance

• Maintain whole school weekly attendance tracker.

· Liaising with other staff to ensure all registers are completed and coded correctly and there are no missing marks or unexplained absences.

• Identify trends in attendance data and initiate interventions to support improvements in attendance.

• Liaise with relevant staff to arrange regular weekly meeting to discuss attendance issues within the year group.

 • Maintain accurate records of communications with parents/carers and relevant interventions put in place to support.

• Carry out home visits either at the request of the Progress Leader team or those you are personally concerned about after discussion with Assistant Headteacher.

• Support parents/carers through relevant signposting of courses and support available.

• Liaise closely with and share information with other agencies if appropriate. This includes liaising with primary schools and secondary schools to ensure that vulnerable families are supported through transitions.

• Liaise with relevant agencies to improve swift and easy access to statutory and voluntary services, such as those provided by children’s services; ensure that follow-up work is done and all relevant parties are well informed

• Attend meetings as appropriate, such as Team Around the Family (TAF)

• Highlight persistent absence concerns and the possible repercussions should there be no improvement. This includes the completion of the termly report to the LA (PMOOE).

• Accompany Inclusion Officer and undertake home visits to engage hard to reach families.

• Prepare half termly data summaries which identify key areas of SEND, PP, PA, PP+, EAL.

• Generate attendance reports as required and discuss attendance data, interventions and actions with Assistant Headteacher during regular meetings.

• Work with the Progress Leaders to introduce innovative programmes to help bolster attendance at traditionally low attendance times.

Operate relevant equipment/ICT packages/information systems (e.g. MS Office, Arbor, StudyBugs, Email, Google.)Use administration supplies resourcefully

General duties

·      To work collaboratively with colleagues to improve pupil attendance effectively, efficiently and flexibly.

·      Understand, accept and follow the College’s Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures. 

·      To report all matters of concern in line with the school procedure. 

·      To carry out any other reasonable request by the Principal or her appointed representative.
