An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Capital & Treasury section within the Finance Team at Pembrokeshire County Council.  The council has a gross revenue budget of £471m in 2024-2025 and a gross capital budget of £151m. Supporting the Principal Accountant we are looking for a part qualified/qualified Accountant or equivalent with excellent numeracy skills and an innovative approach to problem solving

The successful candidate will have the ability to use initiative when required and to be able to complete tasks within set deadlines, supplemented with excellent communication skills.

Reporting to the Principal Accountant, the core duties include:

  • Preparation and maintenance of the detailed management budgets.
  • Incorporating Council decisions affecting estimates.
  • Ensuring the approved management budget is accurately input onto the financial management information system.
  • Undertaking a regular, budget monitoring review focussing on the high risk areas identified by the Principal Accountant, working with budget managers to investigate issues, concerns and proposed actions to remedy.
  • Treasury Management function, incorporating cashflow management.
  • Closing the accounts and completion of the relevant parts of associated final account statements.
