Role Overview:

Huntsman Corporation's Legal and International Trade Compliance team is searching for an experienced Chemical Trade Compliance Classification Specialist on a home-based contract in the United Kingdom; or in person in, Krakow, Poland. This roll provides advice to the business in the specialist area of International Trade Compliance which includes conducting and advising on import / export commodity and regulatory classifications, international trade restrictions, free trade agreement or preferential trade agreements qualification criteria. This position is situated in the Trade Compliance organization, which is part of the global Legal function; and is Huntsman's central support for EMEA, working in close collaboration with our associates in APAC and the US.

Role

Responsibilities:

As a Classification Specialist, you will be responsible for:
Analyzing and assigning trade related classification codes based on EU and national Harmonized Tarriff Systems, and Export Control legislations; as well as identifying and specifying materials subject to trade related Chemical Regulations. Develop and maintain up-to-date expertise in operating principles and processes for Harmonized Tariff Classification, European Union (and national) Dual-Use Control Classification, Hazardous Chemical (PIC) Classification, Explosive and Drug Precursor CAS assignment (EU/CH/UK). Determine appropriate commodity codes for Huntsman's importation and exportation in compliance to EU HTS rules and national rules of the concerned countries. Obtain input from businesses and other functions on manufacturing process, composition or components, properties, uses or applications, and packaging etc. required information to determine business relevant and legal compliant classification. Act as the main liaison and close partner to the business on classification matters, supporting International Trade Compliance ("ITC") laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to the business. This position will enable the successful candidate to act as the company expert and a point of contact to advise stakeholders accordingly. Responsible for ensuring changes and updates to applicable legislation/rules/classifications are closely monitored and relevant updates are timely communicated and applied Supporting the technological development process by providing Chemical Trade Compliance Classification support for sample materials and associated technology. Providing support for operation and maintenance of software systems (databases) containing commodity codes, OGA and Y codes as well as information/documents related to import/export documentation in systems; and, identifying and recommending process and system improvements, when applicable. Act as a company liaison, by responding to customer and customs agency requests regarding Trade Compliance Classifications Integrate and grow, as a member of the Global ITC team, supporting the collaborative development and information sharing of global ITC strategy, design initiative, ITC program development and promotion of global trade compliance management.
Experience and Competencies:

We are looking for experienced candidates with excellent communication skills and a solution focused approach.

What we are looking for:
Bachelor's or master's degree in Chemistry, with 5 years of experience in the chemical industry, ideally with an international trade compliance function. Ability to distinguish and identify chemical materials, compositions and understand complex chemical processes for legislative classification purposes and business decision support Strong knowledge of the Customs Classification process for new and existing products with an ability to identify applicable legislations, with continuous monitoring of regulatory updates and ability to implement appropriate changes, as needed. Knowledge of the Export Control Classification process for dual-use and military goods; and familiarization with overall International Trade Compliance laws and regulations. The role requires high degree of accuracy and attention to detail and is best suited to associates who are prepared to value attention to detail, can follow structured rules and processes and possess strong analytical and problem solving skills. Written and Spoken English fluency, required. Knowledge of additional European languages is beneficial. Strong communication skills and personal initiative to interact with global colleagues remotely, with persons situated in different locations and of different levels in the organization. Willingness for occasional travel Knowledge of MS office and SAP/GTS preferred, with additional consideration for - S/4 Hana skills.
