Role: Senior electronics design engineer

Location: Farnham, Surrey

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + benefits

My client based in Guildford are looking for a senior electronics design engineer to join a highly skilled team.

Daily Duties:

â Design and test of electronic circuit boards - including block diagrams, component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, production file generation

â Debugging prototype circuit boards, making use of a range of electronics test equipment

â Integration of electronics into drone systems - working collaboratively with other members of the team across disciplines

â Working with production team to ensure a smooth transition to high volume production

â Development of embedded firmware for custom circuit boards

â Definition of requirements and research/implementation of applicable standards and required testing/certification

â Communication with suppliers (e.g. PCB assembly companies, component manufacturers)

â Any other related tasks

Skills & experience:

â Degree in Electronics Engineering or related qualification (or several years industry experience)

â Strong verbal and written communication skills

â Experience using Altium and LTSpice, or similar transferable experience

â Experience designing multi-layer circuit boards is essential - including components such as microcontrollers, DC-DC converters, FPGAs, embedded processors, motor drivers etc.

â Thorough knowledge of PCB layout principles and best practices for high-speed signal routing

â Skills and experience debugging prototype PCBs, making use of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers etc. to perform board bring-up and troubleshooting

â Experience writing technical specifications and designing boards to a set of specifications

â Ability to verify the compliance of a design solution against a set of specifications

â Experience contributing to design reviews and collaborating with other engineers and non technical staff

â Strong appreciation for EMC considerations in electronics development and the ability to debug EMC related issues

â Embedded programming skills (C++)

â Experience using version control systems such as git

â FPGA development (VHDL / Verilog) experience is beneficial

â Experience developing RF PCBs is beneficial

â Solid understanding of drone systems architecture including experience with PX4 / Ardupilot is beneficial
