Mechanical Design Engineer

Burntwood (WS7)

£35K - £45K (Dependant on Experience)

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in designing large steel fabrications using Solidworks? Are you interested in being an integral part of multi million pound projects in a fast paced and challenging industry?

On offer is a position in the Projects department of a well established niche business who are a market leader in their field. This is a great chance to get in early with a part of the business with exciting plans for the future naturally with this opportunities will present themselves.

Working with experienced designers within a multi disciplined team you will take ownership of design as well as being client facing. This is a position that will suit engineers who like to collaborate there is a strong team working dynamic.

You will get the chance to be hands on with builds in the factory, so those with a strong practical engineering background will be well suited to this position.

In an ideal world you will be used to design for large special purpose machinery, although those with Solidworks expertise and experience either on the shop floor or collaborating with the shop floor will also be well suited and are encouraged to apply.

"Hands on" engineering experienced is valued here - we would also be interested in those who may have strong design skills but their practical experience has come from outside the workplace as well as in the workplace.

About the Role

  • Creating fabrication drawings and general arrangement drawings to BS8888 standard
  • Design of bespoke equipment to customer specification
  • Site visits to carry out measurements and feasibility studies
  • Provide technical assistant to the sales team
  • Estimate fabrication costs and prepare bill of materials

About the Person - Essential

  • Solidworks Experience (Ideally advanced, but those with strong fabrication design experience and intermediate Solidworks will be considered)
  • Around 5 years or more industry experience in Mech Design
  • Ideally large steel fabrication design

About the Person Desirable

  • Bespoke machinery design experience
  • AutoCAD LT experience

Education Requirements

  • Mechanical engineering degree

Or

  • Clear growth path through apprenticeships and design role
