One of the world's leading law firms, headquartered in the USA, but with a significant presence in London and across Europe, is seeking to hire a Risk and Compliance Counsel to support the office of General Counsel.

This position will aid and support the in house legal team within the firm in ensuring risk and  compliance with Uk and European professional standards. Responsible for a team of compliance professionals the role will be responsible for:

Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring the firm is compliant with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. This includes keeping up-to-date with changes in legislation and providing guidance to the firm on how to comply such as
  • DAC6
  • The Modern Slavery Act
  • The General Data Protection Regulations
  • The Criminal Finances Act
  • The 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive

Risk Assessment and Management: Identifying potential risks to the firm, assessing their likelihood and impact, and developing strategies to mitigate them. This might involve conducting risk assessments, implementing risk management policies, and monitoring risk levels.  

Policy Development: Creating and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and internal standards. These policies may cover areas such as client confidentiality, conflict of interest, anti-money laundering, and data protection.

Investigations: Conducting investigations into potential compliance breaches or allegations of misconduct

Candidate Requirements:

You will be a qualified solicitor and have experience of risk and compliance from a professional services environment, such as a law firm, accountancy practice or consulting organisation Strong knowledge of the law around regulatory compliance for professional services organisations Able to advise and train wider members of staff Able to manage and lead a team of compliance professionals
