We are looking to recruit a GP Partner or Salaried GP as one of our long-standing GP Partners retires. This is an opportunity to join our practice team and innovate in General Practice Health Care. 

Beacon is a Single Practice Primary Care Network covering Ivybridge and Plympton that currently provides care for 43,000 patients in two defined clinical hubs. We are looking for the right person to join our team to help deliver a modern and sustainable General Practice in our community. 

We have a large and resilient team including GPs, Nurses, Paramedics, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, First Contact Physiotherapists, and care co-ordinators – all working to address workload in the most efficient way utilising the PCN DES to work for the practice and the community. We currently have 21 partners which enables stability at a time of uncertainty within NHS General Practice. 

We are a training practice with 10 GP Trainers and welcome GPwSIs currently providing a MSK ICATS clinic and a designated Menopause Clinic in the practice. We embrace Portfolio working and our size allows clinicians to retain a Usual GP presence where continuity is important but enable Fuller Stocktake to be delivered at PCN level for more urgent need. 

Quality of life is important to us and we structure our workload to allow time to care whilst still being able to manage day to day demand. We run a total triage system on SystmOne which allows more flexibility on how the day is managed. We start each day with a Team Huddle – and recognise the importance of time for team coffee breaks and mutual support. Our Duty Day system led by our Urgent Care Team with GP support is based at our Glenside site putting more emphasis on continuity at other sites. We allocate 15 mins for Face-to-Face Appointments – and are continually reviewing and addressing workload to remain sustainable.

Utilising the PCN DES we have been fortunate to recruit paramedics, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social prescribers, first contact physiotherapists and mental health workers to make a large impact on addressing GP Workload. 

We are looking for a GP to join the team at our Ivybridge site. We currently have 21 partners which enables stability at a time of uncertainty within NHS General Practice. As we are looking for the right GP for our practice, we are happy to wait for the right candidate. We are open to portfolio working with many of our GPs having other interests to remain resilient. Quality of life is important, we structure our workload and support each other to manage day to day demand. We run a total triage system which allows more independence on how the day is managed and have a Duty Day system led by our Allied Healthcare Professionals (Urgent Care Team) with GP support. Our own GP lists are stratified to enable GPs to focus on continuity (usual GP lists) and our Urgent Care team deal with a lot of workload where acute care is favoured.
