Job Description

The Role

Following extensive global expansion over several years and a drive to standardise global common systems and platforms, PL Re is undertaking a major back-office transformation programme and has established a Divisional Data Team to develop and manage an enterprise-wide data solution, embedding best practice data governance and data quality practices. This team will support the business throughout its back-office transformation and will deliver significant improvement in efficiencies and the value derived from our data assets globally.

We are looking to appoint a Data Quality Analyst within the Data Governance Team to help establish basic data quality activities to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and completeness of PL Re's data.

The team works closely with Global Technology Solutions (GTS) and Data Architecture teams as well as the regional Operations, Finance and Corporate Actuarial functions across Pacific Life Re.

The Data Quality Analyst reports directly to the AVP, Data Governance and will be responsible for implementing the data quality aspects of the Data Governance Programme, including relevant processes, behaviours, and systems.

This is a great opportunity to play a key role in establishing strong data quality practices in a global business. The Data Quality Analyst will have a strong focus on understanding the data PL Re needs, how it is used, and how it relates to the business. Working with stakeholders, the Data Quality Analyst will ensure the completeness, accuracy, and accessibility of our data on an ongoing basis.

Requirements to be successful in this role:
  • Strong technical understanding of data quality principles, practices, and methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent SQL programming skills for querying structured data.
  • Experience with data quality tool sets.
  • Experience of managing a data quality log, including prioritisation, allocation, and monitoring of tasks.
  • Experience of analysing and preparing data quality reports using visualisation reporting software
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information to a non-technical audience.


Duties
  • Working with the AVP Data Governance, develop and implement data quality metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of data quality initiatives.
  • Monitor and audit data quality, identifying inconsistencies, anomalies, and data patterns that could indicate data integrity issues.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of data quality improvement projects.
  • Assist in the maintenance of data dictionaries and data lineage documentation to assist with a comprehensive understanding of the data flows within PL Re to enable root cause analysis and remediation of data quality issues as they arise.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on data quality tools and best practices.
  • Prepare reports on the status of data quality and progress of data quality initiatives.
  • Use existing, and develop new, monitoring solutions to track the key data quality dimensions, and provide regular reporting to key stakeholders
  • Work in partnership with Business Architecture & Change, GTS, Operations, Actuarial, Finance and Legal/Compliance teams to develop, implement and execute the responsibilities within this role.
  • The role will require self-starter with a good eye for detail, and a practical and collaborative mind-set.


Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 3 years in a data quality, data governance, or data analysis role
  • Detailed understanding of data management best practices, standards, and tools
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to interrogate structured data
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to identify, assimilate, analyse, and draw meaningful conclusions from disparate data
  • Able to understand and investigate topics related to multiple business areas
  • Experience in the re-insurance, or insurance industry beneficial
