There has never been a more exciting time to join the dedicated Nursing Team within the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Endoscopy Service at our Royal Derby Hospital (RDH) site.

We are one of the largest Endoscopy Services in the country and serve a population of 1 million, including patients from Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

At the RDH site we run 7 rooms with dedicated Inpatient lists 7 days a week, 365 days a year and cover on call over night for emergencies, and are supported by a large team of Endoscopists, including Consultant Gastroenterologists, Surgeons and Nurse Specialists.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5 nurse to join our committed Endoscopy Pre-Assessment team within UHDB Endoscopy service. The service provides a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to inpatients and outpatients.

The post holder will be responsible for assessing patients pre-endoscopy and ensuring any necessary adjustments are implemented in preparation for their procedure, i.e. provide guidance to patients regarding medication, including anticoagulant therapy, diabetic and cardiac medication prior to procedure.

 

Main duties of the job
  • You will work independently and liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team in order to ensure our patients receive the highest possible standard of care during their journey through our department.
  • You will need to be a good problem solver with a calm and efficient manner.
  • Previous endoscopy experience is essential.
  • Previous endoscopy pre assessment experience is desirable
  • Confident and engaging telephone skill
