Salary: £25,500 per annum, pro rata

Location: Elgin and Buckie, Moray

Contract/Hours: Permanent / We have Full Time, Part Time and Casual hours available.

This is a 24/7 service and shift rota's are in place including weekends, evenings, and sleep-ins (additional allowance paid). Shift times are 10am - 11pm - sleepover 11pm - 7am / 7am- 10.30am.

A bit about the role

Our Residential Support Worker is a great opportunity for those experienced working in a care setting and looking to implement those skills with an aim to progress to the next stage of their career with our help. You'll manage risk in a way which empowers young people and builds resilience, whilst at the same time ensuring their safety. You'll demonstrate a high standard of person-centred practice, have good social care values and be a strong role model to our children and young people.

Regular supervision with your line manager, team meetings etc. will ensure you feel part of our team.

About the service

Action for Children's Moray services provide loving and high-quality residential care for up to 8 young people in Moray, aged 11 to 18, who cannot live at home and are not yet ready for independent living. We create a safe and nurturing environment at our two welcoming locations in Moray: Elgin and Buckie. Our dedicated Residential Support Workers take care of daily household tasks to keep our home cosy and inviting, encourage and support the young people's hobbies and interests, join in activities with them, and administer medication when needed. It's also important to bring a sense of adventure and a great sense of humour because, after all, work should be fun and full of joy

How you'll help to create brighter futures

Some key responsibilities of the Residential Support Worker roles are;

  • Providing lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk.
  • Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
  • Supporting with medical needs or support during the night if needed for the young person.
  • Providing a safe environment for them to enjoy time with their friends.
  • Giving families the break they need to continue supporting their children.
  • Assisting the children in all aspects of their care and supporting their health and wellbeing.

  • A positive and confident approach to engaging with children and young people.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A flexible approach to working hours (service open seven days a week).
  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role.
  • Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.
