Plan, prepare and deliver learning to individuals, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities to advance students’ learning as necessary within agreed systems of supervision;


·       Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment and use this knowledge and understanding to extend and challenge students’ learning;


·       Work collaboratively with staff and other relevant professionals and provide information about students as appropriate;


·       Use teaching and learning objectives to plan, evaluate and differentiate lessons/work plans as appropriate within agreed systems of supervision;


·       Assess the needs of students and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support and advance students’ learning;


·       Plan and implement strategies to support students in their social development and their emotional well-being, dealing with and following the school’s policy on reporting problems as necessary;


·       Provide support to students in more specialist areas of learning;


 


 


 


·       Teaching Assistants at this level are expected to undertake several of the following and be seen as a specialist in that area, with responsibility for identifying, planning and monitoring appropriate interventions as required:


a)      Provide specialist support to students with learning, behavioural, speech and language, SEMH, sensory or physical difficulties 


b)      Provide specialist support to students where English is not their first language


c)       Provide specialist support to gifted and talented students


d)      Provide specialist support to all students in a particular learning area (e.g. ICT, literacy, numeracy, National Curriculum subject).


·       Establish and maintain relationships with parents, carers and other professionals, e.g. speech therapists;


·       Develop and implement Support plans for students including Education Health Care Plans and IEP’s. Including attendance at, and contribution to, reviews if necessary e.g. TAF;


·       Support the role of parents / carers in students’ learning and contribute to meetings with parents / carers to provide constructive feedback and specialist advice/knowledge e.g. pupil progress/achievement;


·       Assist with the supervision of students out of lesson times, including before and after school (handing in / collecting of phones) and at lunchtimes;


·       Take responsibility for students on visits, trips and out of school activities as required;


·       Contribute to the development of school policies and procedures;


·       Manage the work and development of other classroom support staff where appropriate;


·       Liaise with external agencies as required;


·       Provide planned interventions for students who are not working to the normal timetable;


·       To actively participate in the Ofsted process with regard to specialisms.


·       To support students in all aspects of internal and public examinations and to act as readers or scribes for exams when required;


·       To attend all relevant staff meetings and SEN meetings when timetable and work hours allow;


·       To participate enthusiastically in all INSET and twilight training sessions;


·       To support the College’s policies in terms of safeguarding, conduct, teaching, learning, assessment, homework and discipline;


·       To model the highest professional standards of courtesy, respect, humility, integrity and self-discipline;


·       To carry out any other specific duty assigned by the Principal or her appointed representative.



ADMINISTRATION


To assist in the production and maintenance of SEND databases, one-page profiles and IEPsUndertake administrative tasks as directed by your Line Manager.



RESOURCES


Operate relevant equipment/ICT packages/information systems (e.g. MS Office, internet, intranet, Arbor, E-mail)Use administration supplies resourcefully
