The governors of this oversubscribed "outstanding" school are seeking to appoint a Science teacher. We welcome candidates from all religious and non-religious backgrounds and the successful candidate will be joining an outstanding department which is fully resourced, with the opportunity to teach Science to pupils across all key stages.

You will also be joining the school as we celebrate a progress score of +0.51 (2023) and will join a staff body who support the school motto “We are all made for greatness.”

Cardinal Newman is a highly successful 11-18 Catholic comprehensive school set in 37-acre grounds in the pleasant outskirts of Coventry. In our most recent Ofsted visit, staff morale was identified as being high and we are fully committed to the positive wellbeing of our staff. The report April 2024 noted: " Pupils and students are a pleasure to speak to. They are proud of their school and value the opportunities they are given. Pupils feel safe and cared for at this school. The positive relationships between staff and pupils are a key factor in the school’s success." ."There is a vibrant staff social body with calendared events to ensure that staff can meet and socialise outside of the classroom.

The post offers a recruitment and retention allowance or for candidates wishing to further their development a TLR is available. 

Within the Science department, we take every opportunity to support each other, and we have a new well-planned and fully resourced curriculum to share best practice and support staff wellbeing. With two Science technicians, every teaching laboratory is fully equipped, well-resourced, has a visualiser and IWB to support teaching and learning. We promote a love of Science through our extensive STEM and extra-curricular opportunities.

There is a vibrant staff social body with calendared events to ensure that staff have the opportunity to meet and socialise outside of the classroom.

Have the capacity to teach Science at KS3 -KS5 across all ranges.Have excellent subject knowledge and be able to deliver an engaging curriculum.Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy and passion for their subject.Have fantastic classroom management and organisation.Willing to work as part of a very successful, supportive and friendly team.Promote the Catholic ethos of the school.
