Empowering Learning is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic primary school in Tower Hamlets. This full-time role involves providing one-on-one support to a KS1 student with Autism within a mainstream classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS1 student with Autism, helping them to access the curriculum and engage fully in classroom activities.
  • Develop and implement tailored support plans to meet the student's individual needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to monitor the student's progress and adapt support strategies as needed.
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Foster the student's social, emotional, and academic development through targeted interventions and activities.
  • Maintain detailed records of the student's progress and report any concerns or successes to the SENCo and other relevant staff.
  • Support the student during transitions, breaks, and other non-classroom activities to ensure their well-being and safety.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing regular updates on the student's progress and addressing any concerns.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with a focus on supporting children with Autism or other special educational needs.
  • A solid understanding of Autism and effective strategies for supporting children with this condition.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the development of children with special educational needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
