The Role
Our client is now seeking a Commercial Senior Associate to join its highly regarded and growing Energy & Infrastructure (E&I) team. E&I is a pivotal sector at the firm, and the UK-wide, multi-disciplinary team is led by 2 industry recognised partners and is a great opportunity for a dedicated junior commercial and/or projects lawyer with a passion for the sector and a commitment to building a career in E&I.
The E&I team sits within the firms national Commercial Group, with over 90 lawyers and 25 Partners, encompasses expertise in various areas including Financial Services, IT and Technology, IP, Privacy & Data, and Energy & Infrastructure.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to take a lead on the commercial aspects of a wide range of clean energy and new generation infrastructure projects. In particular the role will focus on
Clean energy development (design, build, and maintenance of assets)
Energy procurement (Power Purchase Agreements for developers and corporate buyers)
Sustainable infrastructure (EV charging and digital infrastructure)
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following capabilities:
* Providing guidance on operational agreements for a range of clean energy projects, including onshore wind, solar, battery storage, energy from waste, heat networks, and green hydrogen.
* The ability to take a leading role and collaborating closely with senior team members.
* Leveraging the team’s reputation in advising on PPAs, energy services agreements, and on-site generation solutions for large corporations, to develop experience in this field.
* Work in tandem with the firm’s corporate team to support investments in clean energy and next-generation infrastructure projects and businesses.
Location and Working Model
This role will be based in one of the firms‘ regional hubs in Leeds, Birmingham, or Manchester. The firm operates a hybrid working model, balancing home, and office attendance to suit the varied aspects of your workload. You will be part of a close-knit, dynamic, and supportive team with guidance from senior members to enhance your skills in complex project delivery, client management, and business development.
The Team
The team has extensive experience advising on the development, acquisition, disposal, and financing of renewable energy projects. They cover all transaction aspects from planning and site acquisition to construction, operational documentation, and securing financing. The team’s expertise extends to advising on corporate PPAs and energy supply arrangements, and they are leaders in this field.
