We are recruiting a Housing Options Advisor to join our friendly team here at East Lindsey District Council.

 

As the Housing Options Advisor, you will assist in the provision of a comprehensive service in respect of Housing Advice, Homelessness Prevention, Housing Register and Housing options.

 

The post is split into specialist areas with this centring around working in the housing register team dealing with applications for social housing. The role will involve being first point of contact for housing register queries including taking calls, responding to emails and attending drop in sessions with the public.

 

You will give general housing advice on a range of housing issues that applicants may face with the ability to recognise when someone may be at risk of homelessness. You will also assess applications in line with the Council's Housing Allocation scheme.

 

The housing register team is a small tight-knit team with supportive and experienced Officers who take pride in delivering a good service. This role is busy and fast-paced and therefore the ability to be able to work under pressure is key.

What you will need:

  • Experience in Housing Services: Previous experience working within housing allocations, lettings, or housing advice.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to engage and communicate effectively with a diverse range of people, including vulnerable individuals.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in assessing applications and maintaining records.
  • IT Proficiency: Confident in using housing management systems and general office software (eg, Microsoft Office).
