I'm looking for an Executive Bid Writer for my brand new client who's in the renewable energy industry.
The successful applicant is to produce professionally written proposals and pitch content that articulates the organisations proposition and win themes, developing the bid structure and knowledge bank in order for us to win new contracts. The position plays a leading role in ensuring the effective co-ordination and timely completion of tenders. The role will be engaged to help develop the value proposition and articulate the solution narrative. Supporting marketing is required in the form of content writing for case studies, website and award content submission.
Essential skills required:
- Working experience of writing, preparing or coordinating business proposal or bids.
- Ideally someone with experience in managing a small team would be beneficial, as they will be responsible for a junior writer.
- Industry experience Planned maintenance / Refurbishment / Renewables / retrofit / Construction
- Strong writing skills the ability to produce copy and translate technical information into plain English.
- A proactive approach to work with excellent organisational skills, self-motivated also with the ability to work in a team.
- The ability to work to deadlines under pressure
- High attention to detail
- Good communicator and the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
- A reasonable level of business acumen and industry understanding
Main duties:
- Delivering contract winning bids through bid writing / coordination of the elements required to complete a bid
- Analysing content of tenders, researching and orchestrating responses from all disciplines which can be used in formulating responses to suit the tender
- Developing clear, well written bids from researched and orchestrated responses which convey operational, technical and commercial solutions in a clear and concise manner
- Preparing written editorial content for inclusion in case studies, brochures, award submissions, marketing materials, event invites and client handouts
- Interviewing internal members within the business to develop technical information contributing towards bid content
- Management and development of the company knowledge bank for bid writing
- Present new content to the knowledge bank for potential reuse
- Attend and or lead kick off and storyboard sessions with bid team members
- Support and coaching the existing bid coordinator / Writer
- Attending 1-2 exhibitions a year to develop knowledge on relevant industry talks.
- Identify and re-work existing pre-written content where relevant
Preferred skills but not required:
- Degree in Writing/Business Management/Communications or with an academic background
- Experience in bid sector, coordinating, writing etc.
- Experience in social housing or renewable technology industries.
- Experience of managing and updating a knowledgebase is desirable.
