Are you an experienced and passionate Social Worker, looking for career progression? Pertemps Profession Recruitment are looking for experienced and passionate Qualified Social Workers to join as a Youth Justice Officer. As part of this Authorityâs Youth Justice Team, You will manage, plan and implement the delivery of the whole range of operational tasks and programmes within the Service, working to ensure consistent policy, practice and procedures, and the efficient and effective use of resources. The aim is to divert children from criminal behaviour. Within this context a YOS Social Worker will work in partnership with all appropriate agencies to assess, manage and review the delivery of programmes for Local Authority children who have committed offences.

This role is for you if:
  • you are passionate about helping young people, acting both as a mentor and a figure of authority 
  • you can understand and connect with children and young people from all backgrounds and situations, including those who have committed serious crimes, grown up in difficult settings or have mental health concerns
 
Working with children and young people in custody can be tough. They can be impulsive, in your face and test boundaries at every level.
Youâll need to make quick but effective decisions. Youâll also need patience and resilience.
Youâll be responsible for ensuring the security and safety of children and young people, and supporting them day-to-day in a custodial environment.
Each shift youâll work with children and young people supporting them to manage their behaviour and attend education, training and activities. 
Youâll get the training and development you need to understand the individual circumstances for children and young people in custody, and how to react in complex or dynamic situations.

Working in accordance with social care legislation and local government requirements, informed by the values and principles of social care; you will be supporting in the delivery of person centred, safe and effective social care services. Using your professional knowledge and experience youâll make assessments and decisions about the most appropriate interventions. Applying your significant Social Work experience and excellent communication skills youâll establish and maintain relationships with service users and other agencies to ensure services meet identified needs.

Youâll be committed to ensure positive and sustainable results of your interventions. Using best practice, youâll strive to provide the best outcomes for children. Most importantly however, youâll have a passion for supporting children and their families to ensure that they thrive and flourish. Our priority is to protect the most vulnerable and to be as efficient as possible.

Perfect candidate will be:
  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England .
  • Experience of working with adolescents and children.
  • SW, CSS, DipSW or Social Work Degree Creative, flexible, and forward thinking in approach.
  • Work in a Social Services Directorate or other Statutory or Voluntary Agency.
  • Constantly striving for continuous improvement to provide the best outcomes for individuals and their families
  • Able to use excellent mediation and negotiation skills on behalf of service users.
  • Work with a range of client groups within an Agency
  • Highly skilled at building meaningful relationships with children and families to engage them in assessments and plans
  • Committed to providing our service users with a high-quality service
  • Experienced in working in a multi-disciplinary, interagency basis
  • Knowledge of legislation relating to general social work practice
  • 2 Years plus Qualified
In this role you will:
  • Use skills, knowledge, and experience to make full assessment of risks protection and social care needs.
  • Manage an agreed case load.
  • Use specialist communication skills to achieve optimum outcomes for service users.
  • Devise individual care plans, taking account of diversity and promoting dignity and empowerment.
  • Offer advice and support to unqualified staff and students to assist development.
