Job Title:  Lead Technician

Location:  Olefins 6, Wilton

 

Job Purpose:

The Lead Technician directly supports the Operations Support Supervisor in leading the delivery of work to meet the required business needs safely. The Lead Technician also supports the Olefins 6 FLM in leading the operating team, when required, to safely operate the Olefins 6 facility. The role requires technical knowledge of the operation of Olefins 6, ideally of each area. An ability to safely plan, co-ordinate and deliver work is also required. A successful candidate would have a strong procedural knowledge and understand how the Lead Technician role is discharged through those procedures. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance co-ordination and control - Ensuring work execution on the plant is undertaken in conformance with the prescribed safe systems of work identification and rectification of plant defects including the preparation and issuing of WCPs and support permits.
  • Operating the plant - Leading the team in changing the status of operational equipment to suit the operating or maintenance requirements of the plant.
  • Leading the team in responding to upsets and emergencies.
  • Identifying and implementing efficiency, quality or throughput improvements by participating in manufacturing improvement teams or by the generation of job methods and training materials.
  • Communication - Accurately communicate plant status and operational priorities to the next shift team and to the day team to ensure safe and effective handovers.
  • Support the training of technicians.

 

Requirements:

  • Working experience and thorough knowledge of all plant areas and activities. Detailed knowledge of equipment and process layout is required. During a plant upset must be aware of the job role of each shift team member and tasks to be executed.
  • Complete knowledge of EHSSQ procedures, ERP application and the requirements COMAH registration.
  • Be fully conversant with the plant instructions and have a working knowledge of management procedures appropriate to work execution.
  • They must have all the requisite leadership skills and knowledge to enable him/her to direct the activities of others.
