Schools Family Support Worker, £18.40ph, Liverpool
Pertemps are recruiting for a Schools Family Support Worker to join the Early Help Service.

Job Purpose

To provide direct support to children, young people and their families facing a range of difficulties. This role will provide additional support at an early stage to help divert families from requiring higher threshold services. The service will seek to achieve the following outcomes:
  • Improved school attendance
  • Improved school behaviour
  • Improved health
  • Reduced crime/ASB
  • Progress to work
  • Cost savings (reduction in level of risk, reduction in number of support workers/interventions, etc.)
Main Areas of Responsibility:
  • Act as case holders for complex cases that have been referred though schools, EHH and
  • cases from school that have been stepped down from social care level 3/2. This will involve completing early help assessment, arranging team around the family meeting and
  • supporting families to improve outcomes for their children by taking on the role of the lead professional and associated tasks
  • Provide intensive and targeted support to vulnerable Families, children, and young people. This includes bespoke packages and programmes. This also includes supporting
  • adolescents with complex emotional and mental health problems.
  • Assess risk and need through early help assessments on cases that step down from Careline. Where appropriate adopt the role of Lead Professional to use common processes for children and families who require more support than universal services including the Early Help Assessment Tool (EHAT), Team around the Family (TAF) and Lead Professional (LP) role.
  • Formulate Team around the Family plans that reduce risk and need. Take the lead for the coordination of professionals and services to implement the plan and take the lead for reviewing the plan at the required timescales.
  • Use de-escalation methods to reduce challenging behaviour from adults and children and young people in families.
  • OFSWâs will align their work to the Signs of Safety (SOS) model â which is underpinned by solution focused methods promoting a whole family approach and use the Family Outcomes Star (or similar) to gauge and demonstrate progress towards positive outcomes.
  • Develop effective relationships with parents and carers via a whole family approach, ensuring positive partnerships between parents /cares, pupils and schools are fostered and developed.
  • Advise, assist, and support parents to take responsibility for their childâs attendance, behaviour, and health needs by building on the strengths of the family in addition to offering practical support where required.
  • To promote the safeguarding of children and young people in accordance with LCC Safeguarding Procedures and the councilâs framework for the care and protection of children.
  • To work effectively and cooperatively with partner agencies using common processes including the Early Help Assessment, Team Around the Family (TAF), and Lead Professional (LP) roles
