Skelmersdale, United Kingdom Lathom High School Full time

Learning Support Assistant

Everyone deserves an incredible future

Become a Learning Support Assistant at Lathom High School.

We are delighted that Lathom High School has been rated ‘GOOD’ in all areas in our Ofsted inspection in June 2022. This is a superb achievement, which we celebrate along with our local community. Lathom is a mainstream High School for pupils aged 11-16 and, as a truly inclusive school, we have some students who may require additional support both in and out of the classroom.

The opportunity

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will connect directly with the young people we care for, helping to make sure they get the very best from their education. Every individual has so much potential, and you will help to guide them on their learning journeys.

You will help support learning both inside and outside of the classroom, with plenty of hands-on experience and some supervision too. You will support their emotional and physical needs, helping them to develop as individuals and engage with the world.

Supporting children with learning and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs is important and rewarding work, and you will benefit from the tremendous support offered by our hugely, dedicated and experienced staff team. As you support our children and young people achieve real and significant progress, you will enjoy having a direct, positive impact on their developing lives and shaping their future opportunities.

Who we are looking for

You don’t need any specific experience to join our team. Whatever your background, whether you come from hospitality, the army, outdoor activity centres or an office-based job; if you are eager to help support our students in their journey through Lathom High School then this could be the role for you. We will provide you with full training and development to succeed within your role.

You must be adaptable and ready to work in a variety of classroom roles, according to individual needs. Taking a responsive and caring approach, helping all of students grow, develop and reach their potential.

Lathom High School believes that we should all “Work hard and be kind” with values based on great teamwork and mutual support. If you enjoy working as part of a dedicated team to share knowledge, experience and learning, please do not hesitate to complete an application.

At Lathom we continually drive forward standards and are passionate about maximising the potential in all of our staff and young people. Our caring and nurturing approach to education within and beyond the classroom contributes to what makes our school a special place both to work and to learn. We place great value on the fulfilment and well-being of our colleagues; our successes to date are in no small part down to their hard work, commitment and determination, and our growing student roll enables us to provide opportunities for both personal and career development. The word PROUD is at the heart of everything we do at Lathom. Our school was inspected by Ofsted in June 2022 and is now judged to be GOOD in all areas. This is testament to the vision, dedication and commitment which has been shown by the staff team and governors and the hard work from the students themselves. We are so PROUD of this outcome and the comments made in the report:
