Watling Academy is looking for a dedicated Head of English to lead our department and inspire the next generation of literary and language enthusiasts.


Join us as Head of English and you'll have the opportunity to be both a mentor and a motivator, guiding our dedicated team of educators in delivering high-quality teaching that brings English literature and language to life. Drawing from your own passion and expertise, you'll inspire your colleagues to explore innovative approaches to teaching, ensuring that every lesson is infused with creativity and enthusiasm.


From introducing Year 7 students to heartwarming tales like "Wonder" to delving into timeless Shakespearean classics like "Macbeth" with Year 10, you'll lead by example in crafting engaging and impactful learning experiences. Through collaborative planning and professional development opportunities, you'll empower our staff to excel in their roles and instil a lifelong appreciation for literature and language in every student.

Watling Academy was judged as ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED in May 2023 and is a purpose-built 11-18 secondary school in its fourth year of operation, located within the Whitehouse development on the western expansion area of Milton Keynes. The Academy will have 1800 students when at full capacity.  Watling Academy is part of the Denbigh Alliance MAT.
