Job Title: BMS Engineer

Job Summary: As a BMS Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and control of building management systems. You will work closely with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to design, install, commission, and maintain BMS solutions tailored to meet specific project requirements. Your role will involve programming, configuring, testing, and optimizing BMS software and hardware components to enhance building performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Engineering: Collaborate with project stakeholders to develop BMS design specifications based on client requirements, building usage, and environmental considerations. Design BMS control strategies, sequences, and logic diagrams.
  2. Installation and Commissioning: Oversee the installation, integration, and commissioning of BMS components, including sensors, actuators, controllers, and communication networks. Ensure proper wiring, configuration, and calibration of devices.
  3. Programming and Configuration: Develop, customize, and implement control algorithms and software programs for BMS controllers using industry-standard protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus). Configure user interfaces, dashboards, and reporting tools for monitoring and controlling building systems.
  4. Testing and Optimization: Conduct functional testing, performance validation, and system tuning to optimize BMS operation, energy consumption, and indoor environmental quality. Identify and resolve issues related to sensor accuracy, control loop stability, and equipment interoperability.
  5. Maintenance and Support: Provide ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and support services for installed BMS systems. Perform routine inspections, software updates, and hardware replacements as needed. Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations to minimize system downtime.
  6. Documentation and Training: Prepare technical documentation, operation manuals, and as-built drawings for BMS installations. Train facility operators, maintenance personnel, and end-users on system operation, maintenance procedures, and best practices.
  7. Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, ISO). Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in building automation and controls.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Previous experience in building automation, controls engineering, or HVAC systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., C, Python) and software tools used in BMS development.
  • Familiarity with building management protocols (e.g., BACnet, LonWorks) and communication technologies (e.g., Ethernet, wireless).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management abilities.
  • Certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Automation Professional (CAP) are a plus.
