What is the opportunity

This role enables a motivated and driven professional RICS qualified Surveyor to join the dynamic Property Risk Team who support the UK Bank's residential mortgage business, and is focused on providing the best secured lending outcomes for Customers.

You will be joining a highly regarded team (both internally, and externally by other Lenders, Professional bodies, Surveyors and Valuers) which is at the forefront of Property Risk management for residential mortgage lending.

The team is forward thinking, collaborative and supportive. It supports both a thriving Bank, enabling it to fulfil its strategy whilst at the same time supporting customers.

In this role you will:
  • Proactively Monitor the Panel Company/Surveyor Service Standards, their Professionalism and their Residential Valuation reporting accuracy.
  • Organise and manage Panel Valuer review meetings both remotely and sometimes in person, building relationships whilst developing the Bank's Valuer Panel Structure.
  • Assist in the management and development of the Property related aspects of the Bank's Mortgage Lending Policy.
  • Oversee and monitor the quality and accuracy of valuation reports and AVM valuations to support prudent lending.
  • Consider and monitor all Property related Credit Risks relevant to the business the Bank is undertaking.
  • Ensure compliance with Professional and Regulatory Standards, to deliver the best Business Standards.
  • Provide support to the Chief Surveyor with occasional representation at industry and business events.
  • Deal with complex referrals and non-standard challenges. Provide professional opinion and advice in relation to any disputes linked to Property standards and acceptability.
What will make you stand out?

Residential Property and Market knowledge, Residential Property Valuation knowledge, experience, and technical skills.

The ability to self-motivate and work under own initiative, demonstrating an ability to solve problems whilst maintaining accuracy and providing excellent customer service.

Experience in demonstrating innovative thinking, being abreast of market changes and constantly looking for new ways of doing things better.

Having strong Audit skills to review both Panel Valuer and AVM outcomes to ensure compliance with the Property related aspects of the Bank's Residential Mortgage Lending requirements.

Showing strong Analytical Skills that can help shape and drive change and efficiencies within Property Risk.

Displaying strong, clear and articulate communication skills.

Having the ability to assimilate information and utilise it effectively.

Good business and organisational awareness.

Demonstrating good relationship management skills.

Essential Qualifications

Will be either Assoc RICS, MRICS or FRICS qualified with Residential Property Valuation experience.

The Property Risk team is a second line of defence function within Group Risk. Providing controls, support and guidance for the Property related requirements of the Bank and ensuring its Mortgage Securities meet the Bank's Residential Lending requirements. It supports Colleagues and Customers throughout the life of a residential mortgage, from pre-application and application, and through all stages of the lifespan of the mortgage.
