About the job Hypersonic is a US and UK based remote start-up building HELIX, the ultimate open-world roleplaying sandbox game. As a Lead Gameplay Programmer, you’ll work with our server partners to develop amazing multiplayer gameplay experiences via HELIX’s Lua scripting APIs. As HELIX is powered by Unreal Engine 5, you’ll need to use UE5 and our HELIX Studio toolkit to build and publish these experiences. Your Responsibilities:
  • Work with our partners to develop gameplay experiences on time, to a high degree of quality (open world, online, social roleplay experiences like FiveM and Gmod RP).
  • Use APIs and existing Lua packages to build great-feeling gameplay in HELIX’s Lua Scripting layer.
  • Use Unreal Engine 5 and the HELIX Studio toolkit where needed to build and publish your work.
  • Contribute to our Frameworks & Packages team when needed, helping expand the number of open source tools available for us and our creators to use.
  • Send feedback and feature requests based on your experiences with the HELIX Platform and APIs when needed.
  • Manage your own time well, helping structure and deliver the project in ways that make sense.
We're Looking For:
  • 3+ years experience working in a Gameplay Programmer’ or adjacent role in a professional studio environment.
  • A track record of writing great code, preferably Lua or Lua-like languages (e.g Roblox’s Luau). Examples of code are extremely useful.
  • Project management experience greatly desired. You should be able to run your own projects with minimal oversight.
  • Proof of effectively managing your own time on projects you worked on, preferably in remote work environments.
  • Experience creating great-feeling online gameplay.
  • Experience building games on sandbox platforms like Roblox, Minecraft and Fortnite (UEFN) is a bonus.
  • Experience working with UE5 is a bonus.
  • Experience with GTA RP servers (e.g FiveM) or GMOD servers is a bonus.
