An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Education Engagement Officer with the Society of Dyers and Colourists, the world s leading independent, educational charity dedicated to advancing the science and technology of colour worldwide. The role will work across the organisation, on a range of projects, to engage with existing / new members and other users to deliver education and promote the wider colour education pathway

Location: Perkin House, Bradford centre and potential for hybrid working once established (some travel will be required)

Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week, to be worked flexibly over 3 - 4 days

Duration: Fixed term period of 8 - 12 months in duration

Salary: £15,000 per annum (full-time equivalent £25,000)

Benefits: Including Life Assurance, generous holidays (full-time equivalent of 33 days, inclusive of bank holidays) with optional healthcare benefits and free on-site parking

You will be an excellent communicator and collaborator, with a flair for marketing/communications, engaging with diverse audiences. It will also be beneficial if you have experience in, or have had exposure to, the development and delivery of learning programmes, as you will be working as part of the team that delivers accredited educational and learning and development programmes, workshops and activities for the Society.

Reporting to the Technical Director, key responsibilities will be:

  • Working with the membership and external marketing team on member development and engagement
  • Promoting competitions, courses, webinars, bursaries and other SDC activities both online and in person using a variety of channels
  • Delivering presentations to various stakeholders including but not limited to colleges and members
  • Preparing course/lesson/product pages for events and webinar recordings
  • Collating exam results, administering applications, preparing learning agreements and creation of certificates for all courses
  • Administration of qualification applications and associated processes including decisions to all stakeholders.
  • Responding to telephone and email enquiries regarding courses, learning opportunities and general SDC queries.
  • Online exam invigilation of courses
  • Managing bursary applications and maintaining a relationship with awardees post-completion
  • Drafting briefs in consultation with experts, preparing marketing assets for competitions, including preparing and uploading content for competition pages.
  • Attending meetings minuting the meetings and action points for members.
  • Attending events to promote the work of the Society, both in person and online
  • Supporting the management of the Society s webinar programme
  • Video editing for webinars and competitions marketing, using relevant packages and placing finished recordings onto relevant communications channels
  • To deliver courses offered on face-to-face delivery basis to Colleges, Universities and employers
  • To keep abreast of developments in the education field including innovative and alternative means of provision

The successful candidate will:

  • Have higher level qualifications
  • Have experience in marketing, communications, engagement or a similar field
  • Be confident and experienced in presenting to a variety of stakeholders
  • Have excellent computer skills and be proficient in the use of the Office 365 suite of tools and experience in video editing and webinar management tools would be beneficial
  • Be methodical and thorough, with strong attention to detail
  • Have effective interpersonal skills and strong communication talent, with a specific ability to liaise at various levels and with a wide range of users
  • Have strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
  • Be a team player, effective at collaborating with others, including external providers
  • Be able to work efficiently, being innovative, self-motivated and flexible

Experience of working within the education, learning or science communication sector is desirable.
