Tes is supporting the appointment of a Director of Music to join a High School based in Lewisham.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional and inspirational candidate to lead their vibrant Music department at the School from January 2025.

The school are seeking to appoint an accomplished musician with energy and vision to lead their Music Department through to the next stage of its development. A proven track-record in leadership is desirable, but not essential, and the ideal candidate must be driven by a firm ambition to ensure that Music is central to the life of the school.

The Director of Music will be responsible for the strategic direction of the department, both academically and from an enrichment perspective. They will have a genuine passion for Music, providing and facilitating opportunities for girls to participate in the musical life of the school, as well as developing elite musicians.

Their pupils enjoy participating in a diverse range of enrichment activities inclusive of Chamber Choir, Senior Choir, String Ensemble, Piano Trios, Flute Ensemble, Jazz Band, Samba Band and many more. Instrumental lessons are well attended by many students across 18 instrumental disciplines and the visiting music teaching staff are dedicated and talented musicians who are keen to be involved in the wider musical life of the school.

The successful candidate would continue to lead and develop the extensive enrichment provision and performance calendar across the school year. The right candidate will also play a pivotal role in continuing to build the reputation and profile of Music at the School, to help ensure that it continues to be a first choice for parents and girls in the area.

The department has its own purpose-built accommodation and is endowed with an impressive Recital Hall.

The ideal starting date is January 2025 but they will consider April 2025 for the right candidate.
