Position: Student Support Assistant
Location: Blackpool, Lancashire
Hours: Full-time
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Are you eager to make a real difference in a young person's life? We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our client as a Student Support Assistant. This full-time role involves working 1-1 with a student who has Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing the consistency and support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities

  • 1-1 Support: Provide tailored assistance to a student with SEN, helping them with their work and supporting their social development.
  • Classroom Assistance: Help the student engage with lessons and ensure they work to the best of their availability.
  • Behaviour Management: Assist in managing the student's behaviour, helping them to develop positive strategies and stay focused during lessons.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess the student's progress, working closely with teachers, and the SENCO to ensure their needs are being met.
  • Emotional Support: Create a supportive and encouraging environment, helping the student build confidence and self-esteem.


Requirements

  • Experience: While previous experience working with children or young people, especially those with SEN, is beneficial, it is not essential as training will be provided.
  • Patience and Empathy: A calm, understanding approach with the ability to support a student through challenges.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to build a positive relationship with the student and effectively liaise with staff.
  • Commitment: Reliability and consistency are crucial to provide ongoing support for the student's development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Spencer Clarke Group work with a variety of schools covering a wide geographical area. We deal with teaching placements at Primary, Secondary, Special Education needs and college level as well as support staff positions also within these.
