Worksop, United Kingdom The National Trust Full time
Welcome & Service Assistant - Worksop

Summary

We're looking for a Welcome & Service Assistant to join our Welcome Team at Clumber Park. Working within a bustling atmosphere as part of passionate team, you'll play a core part in providing fantastic customer service.

This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible. The majority of shifts will be provided at the weekend, although some mid-week shifts may be available. Regular bank holiday and school holiday work will also be required.

What it's like to work here

Reporting to the Welcome Manager, you'll work as part of the wider Welcome team of around 30. Working within a positive team, we supportive each other in terms of wellbeing and progression. We want you to learn, discover and develop your career, and we’ll do everything we can to offer you the training and support that you need to achieve your goals. We’ll work with you to plan your development in a way that’s right for your needs.?

What you'll be doing

Most days, you'll be welcoming visitors at our Welcome Points; taking admission, scanning National Trust membership cards and providing information/orientation to them - promoting events, activities and offers to ensure every visitor gets the most out of their visit. You'll also welcome delivery drivers, contractors, volunteers and fellow staff members which supports the smooth running of whole-site operations.

As part of the wider welcome team, you’ll work to target to promote and facilitate new membership applications and signpost other ways in which visitors can support our charity – including purchasing items from the Second-hand Bookshop or Walled Kitchen Garden produce cart, adding to their pin badge collection, or even leaving a gift in their will.

Some days, you’ll be based at the Information Point in the ‘core’ visitor area; answering visitor queries, facilitating mobility scooter bookings, and completing National Trust membership applications. Other days, you’ll carry our ‘Rover’ duties; this is a ‘mobile engagement’ role involving interacting with visitors who are parked in the wider-parkland, outside of Clumber Park’s designated parking areas – primarily along the verges of Lime Tree Avenue. You’ll engage with visitors parked in these areas to communicate our conservation message, and update them on ongoing changes to parking and access. You'll provide mobile ‘welfare’ support to your fellow Welcome & Service Assistants who are positioned at our remote Welcome Points - facilitating comfort/lunch breaks throughout the day and operational support during busier spells.

You'll occasionally support in the delivery of events at times throughout the year, including some car-parking duties. Working within the wider portfolio team of staff and volunteers you'll deliver outstanding visitor service. You'll also support across the property/portfolio when required.

We'd love to hear from you if you're:

  • customer focused with an understanding of the importance of great service
    • a team player, but also can work on your own initiative
      • well organised and adaptable
        • willing to learn new skills
          • have a positive attitude
