The Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit in CGI is a true IT Systems Integrator. We work, build, and operate bespoke, technically complex, mission-critical systems which help our clients keep us all safe and secure. We bring innovation to our clients using proven and emerging technologies, agile delivery processes and our deep expertise across the breadth of space, defence, intelligence, aerospace and maritime, all underpinned by our end-to-end cyber capability. We work collaboratively with global technology companies, cutting edge SMEs and academia to deliver the optimal solution for each client.
The role will require attendance several days per week at one of the programmes office locations in Leatherhead and Reading, particularly in the early phases of the project. This is necessary for team collaboration and because some project environments can only be accessed from these office locations.
Your future duties and responsibilities
As Environment & Configuration Manager you will play a pivotal role in elevating our refresh strategy. Picture this: a seamless blend of automation and innovation propelling our critical systems to newfound maturity.
Your mission? The swift and efficient migration of our application code from Subversion to Git, a transformative step in our software refresh. You're not just a spectator; you're the conductor orchestrating the entire process, ensuring the symphony of change is harmonious.
We're not just talking about building environments; we're talking scripted application installs a dance of precision. And who's leading the dance? You. Transitioning applications from the old guard to the freshly minted environments is your forte.
But it's not just about creating a tech utopia; it's about knowledge dissemination. You're the ambassador, ensuring every program member is well-versed in the intricacies of our environments. Standards and processes are your domain, and adherence is your mantra.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- Tech-savvy with a knack for grasping the intricacies of underlying configurations and environments, adept in managing them with finesse.
- Proficient in Git, possessing hands-on experience that goes beyond the basics.
- Organizational virtuoso capable of seamlessly tracking and managing multiple changes, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.
- Seasoned in the realms of Configuration Management and Environment Management, with a proven track record of successfully navigating refresh activities within large-scale programs.
- Well-versed in Ansible and DevOps methodologies, leveraging automation to enhance efficiency and streamline processes.
- Equipped with diverse experience in handling various source control systems, showcasing adaptability and a comprehensive understanding of version control dynamics.
